I'd give Stephie crap about it, but she ceded the point about the nuttiness of Aussies ages ago. It's no fun poking her on that anymore. ;)

Yeah Aussies are justifiably proud of their legendary talents at Crazy.

Uh oh, considering the Skype chats that went down tonight, I'd better give Stephie a heads up.

Having the same fucking idiots that have royally fucked up everything else they've touched NOW start focusing on the internet, ESPECIALLY when "regulating" is already rolling off their forked tongues, bodes well for no one.

Wow. I knew about Jason Fortuny and the Craigslist thing and I knew about Lori Drew and Megan Meier's suicide, but I did not know about Fortuny creating a fake blog in the name of Lori Drew after Meier's suicide.

This has been in the works for more than 8 years, to my knowledge...starting when MS first acquired/developed/stole its below-the-radar virtualworlds platform. Going back even further, the 'proof-of-concept' was first presented to the public by Andy Forgot-his-last-name, CEO of Intel, at the PC-Expo at the Jacob Javitts Expo center in NYC way back in 198mumble-mumble...which fired up the creative juices of the originators of "Lawnmower Man"...It's been a long time coming. Andy's on-stage demo was made possible only by the link-up of several RACKS of servers, back then. It's taken until now to get that much rendering power shrunk down to a marketable/feasible size, to make avi-ware a reality.

    Reading this...was....helpful.

It's kinda like comparing the 'mexican' and 'homegrown', and even 'panama red' weed of the 60's & 70's (when $50 for a "four-finger oz." was "beaucoup bucks"!) to the relatively "pharmaceutical-grade 'exotics'" nowadays that are sold by the gram....

It's simply NOT comparable any more....nor fun. :qq:
