I don't want to see porno avatars. A "no porno avatar" policy is fine for me.
No forbidding of nude avatars. IT IS PIXELS for f's sake. Not flesh.
That sounds real brainy. Totally sanitize the place why don't we?
Second Life is a virtual world where many varied experiences occur both nude and clothed, sexual and non-sexual regardless of clothing, so excluding nude avatars from the SL based sub forums is rather bass-ackwards.
if you have a problem with the nudity displayed by particular people with their avatars, then don't look at them, and when the ignore comes around, use it.
Absolute censorship by means of forbidding is a level of policing not necessary for this forum.
Close your eyes. Scroll past it.
Don't push your restrictions on me.
Come on, Bri. Having preferences is not pushing one's restrictions on you. One can just as easily view you as pushing your choices on everyone else. It's about consideration for others is all, not the grand fight for freedom. Anyway, I thought you liked to be "restricted".
I like Bamm's suggestion that we just push a button and hide images for ourselves. Then everyone can just feel free to express themselves (to a limit that will be defined).
I was puzzled by the insistence upon avatar acquisition on a forum. Then it was explained to me that differing pictures attached to posts make forum reading easier. The visual cue makes it easier to identify and keep track of who is posting what. It was kind of funny to see the number of times Gabe's posts were attributed to Mulch because he had adopted the same avatar which had become linked in our minds to Mulch. Anyway, I digress,... what I really want to know is when did the forum avatar go from useful tool to rightful expression of one's identity, maybe even embodiment of the deepest recesses of our soul?
Individuals put the importance on the forum avatar as they see fit. I always post my own avatar. Some folks post cool images and stuff that change alot. To each his own. I just cannot have teh pron on my 24 inch screen in a office setting. So choosing to disable images for a a few hours is a good choice for me.
Well i will do my best to censor myself in respects to my forum avatar and taking care to use *nsfw* tags as a matter of general consideration of the inhabitants of this community, and to avoid completely unintentionally offending someone.
I just do not wish a rule, law, mandate, etc, dictating and controlling us. Self moderation and community brow beating is best in my book.
Oh i just saw this.......
restrictions are nice.
Orgasm denial is nice as a restriction. Physical restraints are of course seriously hot, but i have my limits...I am no fan of strait jackets unless nina or my Dom/me wishes such, at which time it does become hot (here comes nina with a "sif"). Nina did keep me in a locked Mo-chastity belt for a while...that was majorly frustrating, but seriously hot....especially with her nose deep in my IMs to make sure i was being a good girl *bats eyes innocently*.
Oh, consideration. Well consideration is a subjective thing, Mfume, so that does not really go far because it quickly turns into a tit-for-tat verbal war of attrition...Sort of like, what is art.
However, comma, traditionally speaking -which surprisingly enough, it is my experience that often times forumites do not follow common traditions, norms, mores, nor laws- i find being considerate more in the line of "do unto others......" After all, I would feel rather put out if i could not safely surf a site i enjoyed to read because at any random given time I may have a post on the screen showing some knock out tattoo'd bewbies that say slut in Hebrew on them that an employee may see, report me for porn and be offended, possibly leading to job termination, or reduction in position, pay, etc..
I's has considerations for the various nations of humation alienation.
whatever that means...
Consider this, I'd simply like to be able to say that I can do without porno avatars without it turning into a matter of keeping a sista (or brotha) down.
it's not easy being all PC and inclusive in these parts, I'm telling ya
You're doing very well!
I think those are pretty fair community standards...and for certain things...like nudity and advertising...create a forum so people can post away nudie pics and advertise your product, service, event, etc...
