we have nearly finished the update to core 1.1b2. i say 'nearly' because there are still a few outstanding issues to address, such as user albums and various styling issues. this was a major update that has required us to rework dozens of features specific to gV, such as avatars in whos online, node rating banners in the editor template, etc, in addition to more general extensions, such as the front page portal.
we havent gotten to them all yet, and there are some that we may even forget (some are nearly a year old), so if you notice something is missing please feel free to pipe up.
one outstanding bug is a possible htaccess conflict that occurs when trying to view a member profile. this will get fixed right quick.

we will now highlight some of the changes that may be of interest to inhabitants:

    the ignore function
the initial ignore feature demod on xf a couple of weeks ago was quite uninspiring. it was basically a direct port of the vb ignore function, meaning it didnt block quotes and the like. after a bit of unpleasant commentary by myself this was refined to ignore quotes, erase the ignored from whats new, last post by, etc.
its not all it can be, but it is better than the vb counterpart.

    ajax alerts
you no longer need to refresh a page to fetch new alerts. you will now notice the red alert baloons as well as modal dialogs appearing as you are reading/scrolling a page.

    improved search abilities
quick access to useful searches, such as 'your threads', and a new ability to confine your search to a single thread or single node.

    0122.png

    an improved permalink
permalinks now trigger an overlay. this overlay gives you bbcode/html options and more social options. if you have never used a permalink before, they give you the ability to link to a particular post rather than a general page. to see the permalink overlay click the '#1' in the lower-right of this post.

    0124.png

    thread prefixes
these will be useful when importing feeds. a prefix can be assigned based on grid (sl, osgrid, etc), by viewer, etc. thread prefixes can be sorted and filtered as well, so one could filter all threads to only view the osgrid threads, for example.
although these arent in use outside the feed node yet, they will be soon enough.

    auto media embedding
you no longer need to use the media button for youtube, vimeo, or facebook. they will automatically embed themselves.
further refinement to regex will allow us to add more media sources as well.

    pc attachments
you may now use attachments in private conversations.

there are numerous technical changes as well. minimised js and streamlined admin tasks, much kludge replaced by native functions, etc. this has been a highly anticipated update!

please post any bugs/issues/questions in this thread.

    yes.
it uses addthis.com as an intermediary, so it wont be logging pageviews and datamining like a recommend button would.
its already there and working. give it a go !

yes, they should be at the bottom, like in the pic.
your home tab is empty? when you click it does it take you to the front page like it used to do?

it works as expected when logged out or logged in on a test account.
i believe it is a local issue. perhaps your browser is caching old content.

    try this:
click 'customise this page', then scroll to the bottom and click the 'revert all' button.
