Oh my lovely and sweet Kita. It's Saturday dear, stop fretting on a weekend and go out and do something. Anything that will make you not focus on it so much. ( because I know it's impossible not to focus on it at all) Do you have a friend to smoke a bowl with? Wish I was nearby! I would smoke you out and give you huggies! :lovehugs:

I am not smoking until I get a job and know the policy. Even though it is legal everywhere I am applying, some companies don't care and still test for it. I have a stash waiting for me after I start work... ;)

Also, if there is a chill dress code, my hair will go blue. It is long now, and I want to do one of two things:

    Either Ombre, like this:

Or different streak colors, like this:

When I get sick of it, I will chop it all off in the back and go black until the color fades. I want something like this:

It seems that most girls go with a much more evened bob length (just a regular bob with a slight angle, basically) if they are a soccer mom looking for a barely edgy look, or emo kids turn it all Amy Winehouse and keep tons of hair and length so they can tease and fluff it up really big. I hate both of those, and really need to make sure the stylist is clear I want it edgy and flat, short pixie on the back and keep my length in the front like this picture. Not sure if I want bangs, I hate maintaining bangs. Might put color in with the black too. That is down the road though, I wanna go long and blue first. :p

Anyways, I am going through some relaxing games right now. I finished 'The Dream Machine', which was hands down the best point-and-click game I have ever played. It was so well done, so much love went into it, and the puzzles made SENSE. Very rarely was I just randomly clicking on stuff trying to figure out what the game wanted me to do. The puzzles were very logical and made sense. If something seemed like the right solution, it usually was. And they were just challenging enough, made you really think about what is around you and how you can use it. It was done by a very small studio too, I think it really is just basically a couple of guys who have dedicated themselves to it. Oh, and it is all done in stopmotion with clay, paper, and little handmade sets! HOW FREAKING COOL. Amazing score and sound effects and music too. Creepy cause of stop motion, but that is just me. I have always found stop motion creepy as shit (ever since Beetleguice!)

It is night and day compared to 'The Inner World', which is from a mid-sized studio, and what I am playing now. It is standard point and click, puzzles are only logical and make sense half of the time (a slingshot made out of a worm and a stick?? WTF. There were like 5 much better ways to solve it, including just THROWING THE DAMN AMMUNITION.) It tries too hard to be quirky but still make sense, and they fail. The puzzles are a frustrating mess. I am clicking on everything in hopes something will work, hearing the same dialogue telling me that isn't the answer over and over again. Most puzzles rely on me looking at something first or engaging in a dialog before I can do it, even if I already figured out what they want me to do. Then it is a bunch of running around finding the trigger dialogue to unlock the puzzle so I can advance it. I am getting annoyed at it. Typical stuff that makes me hate point and click. And finding gems like Dream Machine make me fall in love with them again. Its rough when they are so hit and miss!

Also just finished 'Half Minute Hero' which is cute as all hell. It is a parody on epic RPGs, with only 30 seconds to save the world!! Fastest epic RPG you will ever play! There are ways to reset time, of course, but most levels take less than 2 minutes total to finish. It literally is about running through an RPG, running through random encounters and boss fights, skipping all the dialogue, all set to a basic but funny story with your standard lineup of RPG character types and tropes. The main character is even named Hero! It's pretty funny and great.

    Rambling... >.<

I need to go get drunk or something ;_; The job hunt, broke-ass, Gizmo separation, homeless, staying with my parents BS, as you can see, has put me in a sour ass mood, so I don't feel like doing anything :( I wanna play my big kid gaming games too!! In my comfy sofa chair with my sweet gaming rig that doesn't choke when there are two tabs with flash open at the same time, and peripherals that are meant to game with and don't limit my library. Going out seems to tick off my parents as much as staying in. It's lose/ lose, I am going to pay for all time spent here, no matter how I spend the time.

Oh my goddess, the multi blue streaks is amazing! I vote for that one. I love bobs! I always get an A line bob, I believe it's called. No soccer mom hair for me, I like a little...something. I love love bangs, but can't seem to get them right lately, so I'm just growing them out. You know how that goes. I clip them back a lot right now, they are at a fucking annoying length!

Hair is actually about as natural as I get. Letting it grow out, no permanent color for about 7 months now. So, dark blonde with natural sun highlights. I do like to add temp color, everywhere. Random streaks or ombre or just whatever the fuck tickles my fancy. Blue, red, pink, purple. I love the Opal look! I'm going to let it get long and do this:

I love that rainbow effect! It isn't in-your-face RAINBOWS, it is... well, almost natural cause it is soft and gentle :) I am not a rainbow fan, but I really like that! :)

I am told bangs look good on me, but I had them all my life as a kid and I HATED them. I had no choice in the matter. When they weren't growing like weeds and getting in my eyes, I also thought they made my fat face look rounder and fatter >.< I let them grow out near the end of high school, and haven't had them since. I think that not having bangs helps to make my face look longer, instead of rounder and plumper. I kinda played with my hair last year when I decided I wanted to do the A-line/ bob thingy, and I really liked it without bangs. Lots of girls look great in them, so I might be missing out on something here... but I can always add them in later. Once they are cut though, they are there to stay so I better be sure!

I had RED striped hair in college. Like, red delicious apple red. And the alternating stripes were golden blond. I used to be naturally very blond, but then I got old and my hair turned brown (It does have tons of blonde and dark copper and bronze highlights that sparkle in the sun though!). Oddly with the golden blond, my stylist used dye instead of bleach and my hair took all the color! That isn't supposed to work that way! You usually need to bleach to go lighter, but I guess my hair is so fine it sucks up color. So I think crazy colors will take VERY well, because it took and held the red and blond VERY well. I think I can even do light blues without a bleach first, as long as there is some white pigment in there. My best friend is half Mexican, and has super dark brown hair (looks black when not in the sunlight). SHe has tried to do crazy colors, and just can't get them to show. She tried bleaching for her dye too, and had so much hair she got a calico cat effect! XD Poor thing! Had to dye it all back! She has an advantage over me when it comes to perms and styles though; My hair is too thin, and there is too little of it. While it holds color well, it doesn't hold any style beyond 'straight and flat'. Which is fine by me. Curling is a pain in the ass anyways, and if they only last 2 hours, I have an excuse to skip them. :p

Since I have good hair for dying (but CANNOT bleach it... it melts! :( ) so it feels like I should be taking advantage of it more and throwing something crazy in there cause I can. ;) It has been raw and boring for over 6 years now while I let it grow (and it stopped growing after 2 years...), and I miss having fun hair. :) Mulch hated the red. And Mulch can suck it, I loved it :) He can hate on the blue all he wants too, I will still love it ;)

I have never had a bob either, let alone a pixie! (well, I guess what I want is like a half pixie). So the a-line/ bob thingy it actually more adventurous for me than blue. :) I always have wanted my hair long for some reason, and was SO afraid of going short until I trusted my stylist when she did the red. And it looked GREAT. Would have looked weird if it was long. I want her to do my blue cause I trust ONLY her after all these years (I have hated almost every other stylist I went to, who just did what THEY wanted or was currently popular), but not sure if that will be an option. She DEFINITELY will be worth the trip for the cut when I get around to that. Color can be fixed and changed, but if someone chops it off wrong, there is no going back! It sounds weird and girly, but there really is something to say about finding the 'right' stylist, and how they can be as hard to find as the 'right' doctor.

Also, found this picture while looking at more hair color examples:

I think that settles it! Striped with blue while the hair is long, choppy ombre when I go short. Cause that looks AWESOME. Red is took dark with black, but the blue looks bad ass :D

I think my brain has been fried by too many RPG games growing up. I want all the crazy RPG hairs XD

I am hijacking my own thread to make it about hairs. I actually really don't like blue hair on most people. I think blue and purple and teal go wrong far more than they go right. The number one thing that always kills it is going with only one shade, or two very similar shades. Katie Perry kept coming up and I think hers looks awful and plastic in a bad way. Or just streaking normal color hair in a few spots. I just think that looks icky like you just spilled something gross in your hair. Go all out crazy or go home! But I LOVE when there is a bunch of blue shades together in hair. That looks awesome!

Pics are relevant to the topic of awesome blue hairs:

I have never been a shoe kind of gal. I kinda resent being expected to wear heels, in fact. I own maybe 3 pairs of shows with heels, all dressy and pretty worn.

However.... I really like boots. Hiking boots, combat boots, elven boots, doc martens, brown boots, black boots, tall boots, short boots.... I am starting to scare myself a little with the boots to be honest... my shoe collection is probably 5 times the size it was 10 years ago. It is about 25% office shoes, 60% boots, and the remaining in tennis shoes and heels.

Even any excuse to get office shoes and mix it up a bit is so unusual for me. But, really, it is all about the boots. I also still get cheap ass shoes. Most expensive shoes I ever bought were for the kitchen for 12 hour days. Practical. I heard that expensive shoes are comfortable... but my cheap ass ones are too since they aren't heels. So I don't think I have a problem with shoes since my entire collection cost me as much as some girls spend on two pairs. And I find cheap ass sketchers to be the most comfortable tennis shoes ever, but had to get special non slip shoes for the kitchen. Otherwise, I would have kept rocking my $35 Ross special last-season Sketchers. :p

    CLOTHES on the other hand... I tend to have a problem :p And by a 'problem' I mean I have a wardrobe as large as the average trendy girl. Basically, way more than I will ever need and my practical side just shakes it's practical little head. I feel bad, cause that money could go towards video games and I waste it on clothes instead! ;_;

And, yes, definitely have a problem with video games. Over 400 Steam games, another 200ish console games. When I grow up, I want a wing of my house with a big library, complete with a spiral staircase to the second floor and areas to sit and read. Also, I will store my video games there. They need a special place too :) If I was a gazillionare, I would make a media archive, and make a collection and keep it sealed in temperature control. I would also have playable copies I could open too, of course :) Haven't played most of them, of course. They make me happy just looking at them though... :p

I talked to my case manager today that got me the funding for my certs. He has told me before he won't be able to get approval for funding for further classes or certs and reiterated that today. He also mentioned that there is an upcoming group class they will be hiring an instructor to teach in-house that he thinks he can get me in. Medical coding. :|

:| <--- Yes, that is the face I made. He said that if I need a job, it will be better than just 'wolf' jobs, which is basically the type of work I have been doing. It pays slightly better entry level than help desk and there is enough demand for it in the Pacific Northwest to get me work quickly. Still looking at only $15/ hr, which I am not sure I can live on unless the area has LOW cost of living. He said if you are good at it, they move you up in the tiers and give you good raises. Still has a ceiling that will be hit, but it is 'something for the mean time'. I told him I would think about it.

...should I even consider it? I set out on this journey to PUSH until I got into IT, and this feels like giving up again. Only advantage is I would have a specifically trained 'field' I can always fall back on. It isn't where I want to be, will do nothing for my career, and will be 4-6 weeks of more classes and dealing with my parents. I guess I could take it and still look for work. But in November, I am also hoping one of my strong contacts will have the IT positions available he told me he would have, and that training will go to waste since I would prefer to take a $15/hr tech job than medical coding job. But my contact is no guarantee, and I could still be looking for work.

It was a bit depressing, but not as depressing as the thought of having to be shackled in a casino kitchen just to make ends meet.

I also wore my cute buckled black boots, cute professional black top with little white polka dots and a long asymmetrical hem, and matching cute fitted little black blazer today, so I think I look like an awesome young professional ready to rock it. That put me in a good mood ready for the crappy reality at least. :)

It's never a bad idea to take a job that's offered to you by someone who appreciates your skills and is willing to give you a reference, that's good networking.

Sure it's probably well beneath your abilities, and sure it's probably well beneath your expected paygrade, but it's a job, and it's better than not having one.

While you are there you can make new contacts. Sure you're not in the IT department, but that doesn't mean you can't do IT work. Most people will ask others they work with that have tech savvy knowledge to work on their home computers and such, maybe they have a small business or know someone who needs help, etc. Those people almost never ask the IT staff, because the IT staff is usually at odds with the staff in a corporate environment, we restrict what they think should be unfettered internet access during work hours, on work gear, using work bandwidth.

They also tend to blame IT for everything wrong with everything that has ever been related to technology. If their phone is giving them shit, it's all of our faults because we're all the techno-wizard types that are hoarding all of the sekrets from them. (Really it's laid out for them pretty straightforward like they just don't posess the willpower and the brainpower to assimilate the information, and it would leave less room for things like how to make a BBQ from a stolen shopping cart, or how to decimate plastic soap bottles with a 22 rifle).

Anyway, it's personal choice, of course, but when I was getting started I took whatever job I could that might further my network and expand my contact list. It's not giving up, it's taking care of yourself while you continue your push to get where you want. Don't feel discouraged, take a step back, breathe, and hit it again. But with a decent job under your belt you have better resources to further your ultimate goal.

I'm shitty at pep talks but I hope I'm helping you more than hindering you.

I might just play it by ear, see when they get the classes started and how many interviews I get. If the classes don't start until November, I will chase down my contact and try to secure a job with him before I make the call and sign up. Also, if I get another handful of interviews, I have a decent enough batting average with them to expect something to stick as long as I keep pushing. I haven't needed to do more than 4 until I got something, and I am halfway there now. If interviews dry up until the classes start, and I don't get the thumbs up from my contact, I guess I might as well take the class. Mostly, I REALLY don't want to be at the parent's place for another 2+ months, but I might not have any other options. I can handle a delay until a job begins, but throwing a pot of pasta at the wall and twiddling my thumbs waiting to see what is going to happen with my future is the WORST for me. I feel like I am just revving my engine in idle and choking on the emissions >.< Let me outta the garage already!

    I should take up smoking cigarettes so I can chill the eff out ;_;

No classes in SQL or any programming/ coding/ website languages. I quizzed him on all those, and hit a brick wall. He expressed his frustration at the lack of funding coverage for SQL, since SO MANY occupations across many fields use it. He said he won't be able to get approval for the expensive classes on coding either. Without experience or a cert, learning on my own will do as much good as my IT knowledge I learned on my own. And those have certs to back them up!

I didn't make the wrong call on certs either, there were no other options other than going for design certs instead. Funding is evaluated case by case, and I need experience in the field to justify training. I have never been a programmer, nor shown any evidence that I can pass the classes (regardless of the fact I CAN, they just had no evidence of it.) There were no other routes, either IT or some Adobe certs. I would rather do IT, and that was that.

No clue what language medical coding is. I know it is it's own entire beast, with it's own special certs and training that is specific to it.

    Welp, not all grim.

Found a posting with a company who I have a contact with, and I had applied to back in March. I was rejected because they had only posted it cause they were required to, and had an internal candidate in mind. Hope this isn't the case again. It's a great company, and I still have the direct-line email to the peeps in charge. Also in Washington, and also a very good fit.

    Where to start.

Coding is never a bad skill to have, certified coders are not all they're cracked up to be, and security consultants with coding experience are more useful. Mulch is right (it happens now and then ;) ), coders can make big salaries, and I wish I ran into more coders that had security backgrounds maybe they wouldn't write such trash.

Medical coding? Is that transcribing charts into medical coding lingo for insurance purposes? Am I mixing up two different jobs? There's a ton of learning involved in that, but if I'm on the same page as you are, those types make big bucks the more they learn (there's tiers of certification, like you said it's an entirely separate technosphere).

I don't think you made the wrong call on your certs, as I think more people should have a security base if they are in any technology field where they can impact the security of the network. Not enough people see the network as a resource worth protecting, when it's the most important one to be focused on. If the network isn't secure, then nothing else is secure.

There is a lull right now in the general field of security consulting, at least in the circles I run in over on the west coast. From California to Southern Washington, more and more corporations are moving to 'turnkey' type security services claiming to provide the same level of protection as private consultants and researchers. Unfortunately, corporations look at the bottom line, and do what is least needed to satisfy insurance requirements. If they can meet that requirement by hiring 'Jackass Security Solutions', and save $40k a year ditching the dedicated analyst. IF something goes wrong, they get blamed, insurance pays off, Jackass Security goes out of business and becomes Dipshit Security Solutions.

The good news is these morons are targeting large corporate dollars and ignoring all of the smaller companies, who need the same services, but cannot afford to pay the cost. So a group of peers and I have made a business out of getting the smaller people taken care of, they are compliant with insurance and the Federal laws, we make enough money to live comfortably, and the clients of those businesses can sleep better at night knowing their information isn't splayed out on the Internet for any dork with a laptop to read.

    Good Times

Ya, medical coding is related to turning hospital stuff into insurance stuff. It is awful data entry and customer service crap. But, it is highly specialized and pays well for a mindless job. Best data entry job one can get, hands down. Pays better than any other data entry, has good job security, and there is room for a bit of growth within the specialization.

Still not at all what I want. But, like I said, better than many other alternatives like cooking/ working ANY job at a casino.
