scrapped vbulletin project and migrated to xf. dropped db. bumped up to xf-b3. upgraded hosting situation to an unmanaged dual vps solution. this is optimal as it leaves us headroom, allows gv to scale as needed, and provides root access which in turn gives us much freedom without requiring any host intervention when dealing with things like modules, sphinx, etc. currently running ubu lucid/apache2/mysql. this was chosen due to its familiar nature. it is not out of the question that we could swap over to centos/lighttpd or perhaps even nginx if it becomes clear that it would be beneficial.
