gotVirtual has moved much of its content into 'the cloud', meaning that static content is distributed by servers world-wide, rather than from the single server in atlanta. this also provides an additional security layer to gV.
in theory, content should be served to a user by a server within close proximity to them.
please give feedback, letting us know if things are faster, slower, nothing has changed, there is a problem, etc. particularly if you are located near one of these locations:

    Amsterdam, NL
    Ashburn, VA
    Chicago, IL
    Dallas, TX
    Frankfurt, DE
    Hong Kong, HK
    Los Angeles, CA
    Newark, NJ
    Paris, FR
    San Jose, CA
    Singapore, SG
    Tokyo, JP

I use a couple of IPs to connect to gV..... From the one at work it's going to be hard to tell if it's our Wireless AP that's slow or the "Cloud"....

It's been seeming slower than normal for a bit, but not sure if it's me or you.
I'm about an hour away from Newark (driving time).
I'll pay attention over the next day or two and see what's what.

It has been quite a bit slower than normal for me lately but the whole internetz has been sucking ass for speed lately both at home and at work so it's kinda hard to pin down. :(

the cloud didnt actually become active until op had been posted.
still tweaking stuff and have yet to complete the move of the main gV server to its new host. although atlanta will likely remain, it will operate as an ancillary server, in effect somewhat like another cloud.
we arent expecting huge performance gains as its likely that the cloud will merely offset the fact that the main server will be located some distance from the majority of inhabitants.

Little slow and glitchy, I had to log out and back while the page hung.

    Yeah, still slow for me.
Other sites seem to work faster for me.
Not sure if it needs time to "settle in" or...?

Still so slow for me i'm not even sure its working
  18. nina

    nina still prettier than you

the time it takes to come out of the cloud is dependent on your isp and how long they hold onto dns info. most are pretty quick about it and do it within minutes, but they can hold on for many hours in some case.
by now though all the dns servers should have the current info.
